AFC Energy PLC (AIM:AFC, OTC:AFGYF) CEO Adam Bond speaks to Thomas Warner from Proactive after the hydrogen technology provider unveiled what it calls its world-first modular ammonia cracker system.
Bond speaks to Proactive from COP28 in Dubai, where he explains he's been talking to people about hydrogen's role in the global economy.
He goes on to explain the significance of today's news, saying that the modular cracker enables the efficient transportation and conversion of ammonia into hydrogen, a key element in the emerging green economy.

Refinery Processes: Cracking
Because there is more demand for some distilled products like gasoline, refiners have an incentive to convert heavy liquids into lighter liquids. The term cracking comes from the process of breaking up long hydrocarbon molecules into smaller, more useful molecules. The cracking process converts heavy straight run liquids into gasoline. There are multiple versions of the cracking process, and refiners use the process extensively. Cracking is a highly controlled process, so cracking units exist separate from distillation columns. The most common type of cracking is “cat cracking,” named for the use of catalysts, substances added to a chemical reaction to speed up the process.

A robotic crawler inspection tool ultrasound guided wave technique for detection of creep damage of hydrogen cracker reformer tube inspection. This tool uses solid couplant roller probes for generation and reception of ultrasonic waves. This is developed by the Center for Nondestructive Evaluation at IIT Madras in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) R&D Faridabad. This has been successfully validated in several furnaces.
